Spring Fling

While it may be officially spring, it certainly still does not feel like it in PA. I'm determined to not wear any more winter clothing though and instead opt for cheery spring colors and fabrics. The snow is finally starting to melt so that is always a plus. It was also very windy when I photographed this outfit so my hair was going everywhere! Nothing says spring to me quite like florals do and this tired chiffon skirt fits the bill perfectly. The polka dot bow buckle and daisy adorned clutch really add to the light hearted happiness spring always offers.

Turning 61

Ever since my mom passed we have been celebrating my dad's birthday at my house. I love having the chance to host the party and getting to entertain everyone. This year my dad turned 61 and we planned on treating him to dinner and then having cake and coffee back at my house. Angel food cake has always been the staple in my family and I love serving fresh strawberries with it. My brother's girlfriend also made an amazing apple strudel, she'll be a famous chef one day mark my words!, along with the coffee. I used happy birthday confetti to decorate the tables and cake plate, balloons by the fireplace, and banners placed along the walls and fireplace as well. It was such a fun night to enjoy with the family and show my dad how much he is loved.

Last year we had a big celebration since it was my dad's 60th. I really wanted go all out for him and he truly deserves it. We all went out to dinner on his birthday and then hosted a similar dessert party back at my house. Then, a few days later, we drove down to Hotel Hershey for a fabulous Sunday brunch. This had to be the best brunch I have ever had and seen. What a beautiful setting to relax and enjoy. They had every kind of food and dessert you could imagine. I'm glad we were able to do it and make his birthday so special. This happened right before I started this blog last year and never had a chance to share so what better time then when celebrating his birthday this year.

First Day of Spring

This is technically a few days late, but these photos were taken on the first day of spring and surprise! It snowed 3-5 inches in North Eastern Pennsylvania, which if you live here is really no surprise at all. Winter lasts a minimum of seven months, sometimes longer. Sigh. I could really use some of that California sunshine right about now! I refused to dress for winter on the first day of spring so I pulled out my rain boots, rain jacket, a punchy peach colored dress, and my new satchel from Target. They have so many colorful purses right now that are absolutely wonderful. I would highly recommend stopping in at your local store to check out a few pieces. The only winter item I put on was my vintage hat because it was a bit frigid outside!

A Day at the Zoo

I took a much needed break yesterday since I've been battling this cold, which took a slight turn for the worse, and could not be happier that I did. Nothing like a little rest to help heal the body. This is a bitter sweet post since it is my last California outfit, but oh what a fun day we had at the San Diego zoo! I wanted something that was comfortable since I knew we would be walking around the whole day. I picked up these espadrilles at a Target in San Diego, that has two floors!, and absolutely fell in love with the tropical print and comfort of them! You will not be disappointed with these. The tote was great for storing anything we bought and even my camera when I did not want to lug it around my neck anymore. Let me just say also that tunics are absolutely perfect for pregnancy. I was so comfy in this and adore that I can wear it afterwards as well. A win-win situation in my book.

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend! I'm been trying to get over this never ending cold I picked up in California so needless to say, I've been very tired and worn out lately. With all of that aside, this fun Spring time look is so cheery with its pretty pink flamingo and candy colored bag, it simply makes me smile. Navy blue was the base color for my tank and skirt with pops of playful pink to brighten up the look and a light weight blazer to pull it all together. The hat I purchased the day before in Coronado at the French Room quickly became a favorite I wore everywhere. I also fell in love with these cute little beaded bracelets I got at the French Room with their stunning blue colors and romantic wording of "love."

Coronado Island

Happy Friday everyone! Nothing makes me happier than getting closer to the weekend and Friday night takes the cake. This look was all about cool minty and blues hues as we spent our day at the beach and bike riding around Coronado Island. My little slice of paradise. Of course, some shopping was done as you can see in the first picture, which is where I scored this beautiful hat at the French Room on the island. It's a beautiful boutique filled with charming treasures sure to please every fashion palette.

This day was all about lounging on the beach. We went to La Jolla Shores and spent the whole day laying on the beach watching the ocean until sunset when we packed the car back up and then went back down to the beach to see the sun dip down into the ocean. It was a wonderfully relaxing day and just what I wanted. I used this LC Lauren Conrad sweater as a swim suit cover up. I love the lacy details and white colors. So fresh and romantic for the beach. The stripped dress is actually a maternity one from Target. It's the only maternity piece of clothing I own currently. It was so comfortable to wear, especially on a low key day.

Nautical

This was one of my most favorite outfits that I wore on the trip. I had envisioned the nautical look and then hunted down the perfect pieces to create it. After staying with our friends over night, we traveled down the Pacific Coast Highway and eventually reached San Diego. This was our first day actually being in San Diego and we spent it on Coronado Island, my new paradise. We rode bikes around the island and watched the sunset on the beach. All of these pieces fit so perfectly together and I absolutely adore anything that has a nautical theme to it. I also love how all of these pieces can be worn with different outfits to create a completely new look.

Happy Monday. Today is an exciting post since it starts my vacation outfits, but also because my sweet husband is making an appearance! Justin really wanted to have a California feel for this trip and bought so many new clothes for it. I was so proud of him! I wanted to have a beachy relaxed feel to most of my outfits since I was traveling pregnant and did not know if I would suddenly get bigger or stay relatively the same size. We started the day off in Santa Monica and then traveled up to L.A. to see the Hollywood sign and visit Grauman's Chinese Theater. It was truly a dream come true for me seeing as how I adore classic Hollywood and so many artifacts still remain from those days. I was seeing stars in my eyes. Also note the tiniest bit of a baby bump showing. We went on this trip specifically as a baby moon.

I was getting some house work done and had this outfit on. While I love the soft layering, I wanted to focus on the scarf tied around my bun. I usually like to put my hair up when I'm busy, but thought, why not step it up a notch and add a little something extra? The scarf belonged to my mom and has the prettiest shades of pink, green, and purple in it. This elevated my bun and proved that adding a little something can completely change a look. Happy Monday all! I wanted something bright, happy, and to have a Spring like feel for this Monday morning. Nothing like a little inspiration to think Spring and get in the mood, even if the weather is not cooperating. Obviously I have a thing for tulle skirts and twirling in them. Happy Friday all! I hope everyone has had a good week and is looking forward to the weekend ahead. I know I sure am. Currently, Justin and I are in California enjoying some much needed sunshine and warmer weather, not to mention some rest and relaxation. This outfit puts the biggest smile on my face and makes my hurt burst with happiness. I love the navy and yellow mixed together along with that adorable peter pan collar. The sweater, skirt, and bag are all from Modcloth, but currently sold out. Everything feels oh so very vintage, the hat actually is, which only makes me fall even more in love with this. Blue, Mint, and Rose Gold

Happy Thursday! Almost to the weekend. Whew, was it me or did this week just fly by? This look is all about soft pretty blues, mints, and a hint of rose gold. These loafers from Forever 21 are so lovely. I absolutely adore them. If you do want to purchase these, I would suggest going down 1/2 a size for a good fit. The blue and white blazer feels so fresh and summery, just what I need to get me out of the winter dull drums. The blazer is available online, but only in plus-sizes. I purchased this from an actual Target store.

What's black and white and red all over? This color combination is one of my favorites and always looks so chic and classy to me. The black, white, and red colors blend so nicely together and create the perfect palette for any outfit . These checkered pants from Banana Republic last season, really stand out and were the starting point for creating this look. Let's not forget these adorable heels with a bow on them! I will buy anything with a bow on it, I love that little detail so much. Hope everyone is having a good start to their week!

Florals

March is finally here and with that Spring inches closer and closer. Unfortunately, if you live in the North Eastern part of the country, then it still feels and looks very much like Winter. Here in PA, we just has 3 more inches of snow fall on Sunday. That California vacation is looking pretty nice right about now! To inject some Spring time into my look, I went with pink and peach accessories and a fancy floral jean from LC Lauren Conrad. Floral prints always bring a smile to my face and really help brighten up the Winter season. Stay warm and just think, only a few more weeks until Spring!
